What I'm Made Of

Chunks of naughty,

flakes of sweet,

swinging on

my classroom seat,

dressing up

and trick-or-treat –

that’s what I am made of.

Kicking footballs

in the rain,

coming back

with muddy stains,

giggling as

my mum complains –

that’s what I am made of.

Jealousy when

I don’t win,

picking scabs

off mottled skin,

throwing homework

in the bin –

that’s what I am made of.

A hint of a smirk,

a glint in the eye,

an inch of hard work

a pinch of a cry,

a crash of hello

a splash of goodbye –

that’s what I am made of.
